@shesthatfoodie: The difference in fast food culture between Canada and Vietnam is pretty crazy to me.. In Canada you’re gonna see a ton of McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King, etc. 🍔🍟 But in Vietnam, you see a lot less of those big fast food chains. If you’re out looking for a quick meal, you’re more likely to find things like sizzling plates, BBQ chicken, or a hot bowl of pho. Fast food. Those chains aren't actually fast. Places serving phở, bánh mì, bún, cháo, or rice paper snacks—those are faster, and they are easier to find than the chains you mentioned.

They call it “fast food” abroad because it’s served quickly. But in Vietnam, it’s actually slower than your average local food stall. So maybe we should call it “slow food” instead.

Fast food like KFC McDonald… are frozen package food kept in fridge for longgg time before being heated by oil and it’s fat. But “fast food” in Vietnam is almost 100% fresh food, cheap, almost everything has vegetables and less fat/oil. Besides, Vietnam has like thousands of food to choose, even us Vietnamese have to ask ourselves every day what to eat cuz it’s so many. So that’s why famous fast food chains are not as successful in Viet as they are in others countries

The type of fastfoot such as fries, pizza, smoothy are overprice at vietnam. So obviously no one willing to pay that much for food. Lot of people only pay $5 for food per day.
