I was full time on the heavies in the 70's then p/t up to 2004 (I'd gone into the NHS for 35 years) It was hard work on the heavies, long hours and cabs not built for comfort, manual split gearboxes, no satnav, but the camaraderie was fantastic. We were tarmac junkies!🤣

when free living ment exactly that, 99% of all public were law abiding citizens there was no need for cameras on every street & on every stretch of the motorway, you drove sensibly it didn't matter if you went 1 mile over the speed limit, now it like living in a open prison you look at someone the wrong way your arrested you forget to tax your car its taken away, what happened to its ok go & tax it within the next 7 days, they monitor your kids 24/7, they no longer your children they belong to the state, you shout at your child for misbehaving gone they will take them away. basically there is nothing you can do anymore without them knowing about it & if they dont like it you've had it ...
