I have to first say it was a “proud mom moment” when not only did my daughter fall in love with an older dog despite so many puppies and younger dogs surrounding her but even when we saw his missing hair patches and learned about his allergy condition it didn’t change the fact that she wanted him…❤️ When we adopted Bruno the rescue organization didn’t know a lot other than they were told it was likely a beef allergy and the hair will likely grow back. They told us the vet didn’t do an allergy test though and that we should avoid beef, beef gelatin and beef rawhides etc. We are careful about what we feed him and haven’t done any beef. We read treat/food bags thoroughly and give him pork hides instead of raw hides. We also avoid wheat just in case. To support his gut we give him a little pinch of sauerkraut here and there for the natural probiotics. He has had a little plain Greek yogurt too but I want to find some goats yogurt as I have heard it’s more digestible for dogs. I also make homemade chicken broth each week for all the healthy minerals, vitamins and collagen to support his gut and skin/fur. We recently started a natural supplements that has ahiflower seed oil that improves skin and coat health, reduces inflammation and helps support joints. I also have been putting coconut oil on his patches of missing hair lately but it’s only been a couple week. ⭐️Questions ⬇️ 🐾Do you have experience with a dog with allergies? 🐾Do you think his missing hair is definitely from itching from an allergy? Or could it be something else? 🐾Is there a way to know if it is for sure beef or if it could be other foods or things too? 🐾Do you think his hair will grow back on his neck? 🐾Any food or supplements suggestions?
