@inventionontt: Original Video Credit: IG/nurhat9406 While assembling the roof framing, the carpenter begins by tapping the nail partially into the lumber in a nearly straight position. Once the tip is established, he pivots the nail and drives it diagonally through the adjoining pieces of wood. Known as toenailing or skew nailing, the technique drives a fastener at an angle through one framing member and into another. Starting the nail first can create a small pocket that helps keep the tip from slipping when the nail is repositioned and struck at an angle. Toenailing has long been used in timber and conventional wood framing to connect members where driving a nail straight through the joint is impractical. Properly placed angled fasteners can create a strong mechanical connection while allowing framing components to be secured directly in position. No copyright infringement intended.
