I worked at a blood bank. A friend who is African American came in to donate blood, as I was taking care of him I was also taking care of a middle aged white Australian man across the room from my friend. The Australian man told me that his son was a doctor but he had a question that he was too embarrassed to ask his son about and wondered if I would know. I said sure, ask away. He looked towards my friend and then back at me and asked “when you cut into them, what colour is their flesh?” Cue me looking like a goldfish for a moment while my stunned brain proceeded that information before I answered in my most professional manner “exactly like yours and mine. He just has more melanin than we do, also he is a very dedicated donor as he has the most rare blood type. How I held myself back from saying wtf I will never know.

I was at work one day and we were just standing around talking because it was really slow. My GM was drinking a cup of coffee and she said her grandmother told her when she was young that if she drank too much coffee she would turn black. I looked at her and said, "y'all wish it was that easy because that way y'all wouldn't burn every summer trying to get darker". Born and raised in Louisiana and some white parents tell their kids this 🐂💩 all the time.🤦🏾
