@contextcoffee: This is a contemporary tropical courtyard house designed around the idea of bringing landscape into the architecture. Its character comes from the interplay of warm timber, planting, filtered light, and curved forms rather than from a conventional solid façade. The front elevation is composed as a series of curved volumes and vertical timber screens. The timber fins create a strong rhythmic façade while providing privacy, shade and a degree of visual permeability. Behind them, slender dark metal screens add another layer of texture and depth. The central recessed entrance is deliberately quieter, framed by black structural elements and a timber-lined ceiling, creating a clear point of arrival. Landscape is treated almost as part of the building envelope. Climbing plants grow through and around the timber screens, while dense tropical planting softens the base of the building and extends into the entrance and circulation spaces. Rather than having a conventional garden placed in front of the house, vegetation is woven into the architecture itself. Inside, the same language continues. The circulation space becomes a garden corridor, with timber fins separating movement spaces from planted courtyards and living areas. The screens allow glimpses through the house, so the experience is one of moving through layers of garden, light and architecture rather than simply moving from room to room. The interior combines white brickwork, natural timber, terrazzo and abundant planting. The terrazzo, with its visible aggregate, introduces a more tactile and informal material against the warmth of the timber. Large glazed openings and skylights bring daylight deep into the plan, while the internal planting creates a strong connection to the outdoors. The vertical screens provide structure, privacy and shade, while the gardens provide the visual continuity that ties the interior and exterior together. The result is warm, highly textured and deliberately layered, with a strong emphasis on materiality, filtered light and the experience of moving through landscape. #designbuild #architecture #houseoftiktok #diaspora #ugandatiktok🇺🇬
