There was in fact a Wal-Mart Discount City store in Rogers Arkansas in 1962. It was the first of its kind. However, the national average for a gallon of milk in 1962 was around a $1.00. There's no way even a Wal-Mart Discount City could have priced a gallon of milk at $.27. I will not even mention the printer paper. Definitely A.I.

A few problems with this receipt. First Walmart was a general store. They sold clothing hardware and other general household items. It wasn’t until much later that they added boxed food. And then the super centers brought in perishable food. The supercenter was a big thing when it was introduced in communities in Arkansas. Secondly the receipt did not state what you purchased. Products did not have a barcode. They had a little sticker usually white, sometimes red or green with the price on it. The cashier typed in the price for each item. The cash register was a little more than a calculator and the printed receipt might have a mark for it being hardware and the price or a mark for clothing and the price or a mark for other household item and the price things were not listed individually. This was definitely created by someone too young to remember life before we had computers.

I'm pretty sure grocery stores didn't use computer powered thermal paper receipt printers in 1962...

Another comp is that in “62” you were buying name brand items, not leftover “great value” crap
