My daughter was 16. No help or support from the police. 3 years later, the trauma still immobilizes her. Her life has been forever changed. For a while I grieved the person she would have been had this never happened. Now I happily celebrate the strong and brave woman she has become because of her rape and in spite of it.

this episode ripped me apart. I was in that bed one time. a guy I dated for 10 months kiddn☆pped, drugged, beat and assaulted me. I felt so much guilt for a long time because I trusted this man and put myself in my position. after a lot of therapy for years I finally forgave myself or blaming me when it was all his doing. I felt people would blame me for what happened. #IAMJANEDOE

I can see the faces of my rapists clear as day in my head. Even though I was over intoxicated and it was 20 years ago. Never reported, cuz duh… no one would believe me. Only told a few close friends. Non of them encouraged me to go to the police. A few weeks later the main guy died in a car crash driving on the wrong side on the freeway, drunk. He had a kid, was a football star in high school, so everyone felt so bad. I had a really hard time with that. It was a secret. They video taped it. I guarantee they destroyed that evidence quickly. My cousin just took her own life because she could not quiet the storm in her mind after years of abuse at the hands of a family member that she should have felt safe with. The aftermath of the abuse doesn't go away or get better. It sits there forever, causing you to take drastic measures just to quite the storm inside you. THIS NEEDS TO STOP!
