Hey mate as others have said, you caught a train not the metro. Also, download an app called TripView while you’re here, it tells you exactly where you need to go and when for all public transport

The $1 is an authorisation charge, you get charged the correct fare about a week later. Most short train trips are a few Australian dollars.

Ken, this is a Normal train. Not a metro. We have metro as well, you have to hop off at certain stations and walk to the metro part and hop onto those driverless metro trains.

The cost depends on how many stations you go. Regularly you use the opal card. You can only use credit card if it’s like you forgot the opal card. If you get caught with people checking tickets they wouldn’t allow you to use credit debit card

Sorry mate that’s not the metro the metro is the blue m symbol and there is only one line the transport is really cheap the full payment is already done when you tap off leaving a train station

The $1 charge is just a test to check that it's a valid card. The true cost will show up a few days later. The cost is based on distance travelled. For a short trip it'll be around $3-4 depending on whether its peak or off-peak times.

L2 is outside on the street. It’s the light rail that follows the road above ground. The metro is something different as well - metro only runs from norwest Sydney to the inner west. You caught the regular train at the regular train station.
