@tekefarms: 🇳🇬🌱 NIGERIA IS GREEN — LET’S MAKE IT FEED NIGERIA Nigeria is blessed with something money cannot manufacture — land, water, sunlight, a favourable climate and hardworking people. 🌱 From the North to the South, from the rice fields to cassava farms, vegetable gardens, fish ponds and poultry farms, our land has the potential to produce much more of what Nigerians eat every day. Agriculture is already a major part of Nigeria’s economy and livelihoods, but farmers continue to face challenges including high production costs, limited financing, inadequate irrigation and infrastructure, post-harvest losses and difficulty accessing markets. So the question is not only “What can Nigeria produce?” The question is: “How do we give Nigerian farmers the support they need to produce at scale and consistently?” 🌾 WHAT FARMERS NEED 1️⃣ Affordable and accessible financing Farmers need loans and agricultural financing with terms that reflect the realities of farming—not financing that becomes another burden. 2️⃣ Affordable farm inputs Seeds, fertiliser, feed, vaccines, equipment and other inputs need to reach genuine farmers on time and at reasonable prices. Government is already implementing input-support programmes; the challenge is ensuring support reaches verified farmers effectively. 3️⃣ Irrigation and reliable water systems 💧 Farmers should not have to depend entirely on rainfall. Irrigation can help make production more consistent throughout the year. 4️⃣ Mechanisation 🚜 Small and medium-scale farmers need affordable access to tractors, processing equipment and other machinery—not necessarily to own every machine, but to be able to rent or access them when needed. Mechanisation has also been identified by Nigerian agricultural stakeholders as an important area for investment. 5️⃣ Storage and processing facilities A farmer should not lose the value of months of hard work simply because there is nowhere to store or process the harvest. Better storage and processing can reduce waste and allow farmers to sell at more appropriate times. Nigeria's 2026 budget specifically identifies storage and processing among its agricultural priorities. 6️⃣ Better roads and electricity Good farm-to-market roads, reliable electricity and other rural infrastructure can reduce the cost of moving and processing food. 7️⃣ Stronger extension services and training 👩🏾🌾👨🏾🌾 Farmers need access to modern knowledge—soil management, animal health, climate-smart agriculture, pest control, record keeping, processing and marketing. 8️⃣ Access to markets and fair prices Producing more is only sustainable when farmers can sell profitably. Farmers need stronger links to processors, retailers, institutions and consumers. 9️⃣ Security on farms Farmers need to be able to cultivate, harvest and transport their produce safely. 🇳🇬 LET'S INVEST IN THE PEOPLE WHO FEED US Government, private businesses, financial institutions, development organisations and farmers all have roles to play. And farmers must also embrace record keeping, good farm management, technology, responsible use of inputs, cooperation and continuous learning. Nigeria does not lack agricultural potential. We need to unlock that potential. Every egg laid, every bag of rice harvested, every cassava tuber lifted, every vegetable cultivated and every fish produced represents more than food. It represents jobs. Income. Dignity. Food security. And a stronger Nigeria. 🇳🇬💚 At TEKEFARMS, we believe in doing our own little part—producing quality eggs and contributing to the food supply of our communities. Our land is green. Our people are hardworking. Our potential is enormous. Let's give agriculture the support it deserves. 🌱🇳🇬 TEKEFARMS — Diligent & Delectable. #poultryfarming #nigerianagriculture #supportfarmers #fyp #foodsecurity
