The thing is these systems work, it doesn't matter how good someone's life in jail actually is, they still don't have freedom, a guilded cage is still a cage.

they have among the least amount of reoffenders 🤷♀️, some people don’t deserve good treatment but if you don’t want them constantly in and out of prison, you have to treat them like people, it’s like rehab, which i’ve been through

it makes sense. punishment makes us feel good, it does nothing to stop crime. punishment is the thought process of "this bad person should suffer". but what the goal is prisons should be is "how do we get people to stop committing crime" Right. punishment doesn't do anything to stop crime.
