They've already released four musical collaborations and Lúcio isn't on any of them? WHEN HE'S A DJ AND A MUSICAL PRODUCER. That Doom mythics is him wearing a hoodie and sneakers? They released the first African American character, made her lose in her own trailer and gave her the MOST boring and braindead kit ever? that Bap barely gets any skin despite being one of the more relevants supports in the meta?? please stop acting like blizzard is not racist too.

Andy Koo, the creatuve director of Rivals, HATES storm since way back in Marvel Future Fight mobile game and marvel had to intervene to force him to improve her kit and give skins for her a year after her release

I love you for this, your head's in the right place, but only Sierra is the first and only *African American* hero. Baptiste is hatian, Doomfist is just African, Lucio is Afro-Latino, Doctrine is Jamaican i think. that's like one of the coolest things about overwatch, they've got (black) people from all different countries, and they try to get the stories right for each of them. you're making a really good point here, that detail just stuck out to me.

as an overwatch player blizzard still had major issues with racial stereotyping because why did the gods reborn bundle have every other character in detailed mythological outfits and doomfist gets stereotyped as a street thug instead of embracing Shango's lore and cultural significance

Just so everyone is aware, the characters and world of Overwatch are one of if not the strongest sticking point of this game and from the very beginning it was very clear that the roster was going to be very racially and ethically diverse. The roster is literally DEI in motion and one of the best parts of each new hero release is seeing how the culture or race selected for that hero is presented. In fact, many of the characters are just racial stereotypes with a dash of individual personality added on top (I once heard a Brazilian guy call Lucio the most Brazilian non-Brazilian guy he’s ever seen), which means that if the racial aspects of the characters were removed, they would cease to be iconic or memorable, which also means that the racial aspects as they’re being presented *are* iconic and memorable.

its netease. they whitewash the characters in their other game identity V it seems, too, as fans of the game have complained about the whitewashing of their already low number of black characters and also the design choices of some of their skins. evil freaking corp that ruins all of their games with hatred.
