Is this a generational or regional thing? I was taught to just keep my hands in a natural position. Been doing that since forever, sometimes making sort of instinctive "clawing" motions to push the water away 😂

Yup. I've been swimming for 35+ years and always spread my fingers out. It also helps you manoeuvre around more easily. 🏊🏼
