@neilinvests: 18 months on and it’s the best thing that ever happened to me. At the time though it doesn’t necessarily feel like that. One other thing, in every conversation I’ve had with people who go through this, they all end up in a better place one way or another.
nicely said. you lose your 'work family' overnite and never hear from them again. its like they have died. part of the trauma of redundancy.

Best thing that ever happened to me too. Made redundant last year at 53. Now retired and living in Bangkok, Thailand.

I am just going through it at the moment, it's a rollercoaster but I'm getting through it, and kind of feel relieved it's coming to an end to be honest 👍

I imagine redundancy to be a great experience with a payout, if there’s no payout then not so much

I'm envious of people that get made redundant, low level jobs don't get made redundant, you stay there to you retire on low wage or get fired with no comp, being made redundant you can go down to that level while living with the benefits of being there, redundancy is a privilege that some us will never achieve

I’ve been made redundant twice in 3 years from 2 separate companies. It’s incredibly difficult and there is a level of mourning, uselessness and anger. But every single time I’ve got a better role and more pay etc so if you’re going through it, keep going, it will get better!

Very accurate observations about the redundancy roller coaster. It happened to me twice so second time, even though I was still shocked,I had my business running in the background so my Plan B became my Plan A very quickly 😅

It is a steep learning experience. For me it happened about 20 years ago and it made me factor in catastrophe planning into everything I do. Pre-redundancy me would never have considered following guys like you, I just lived for today. You’ve done a great job coming through it.
