@markanstead: CAREFUL before you pick up a bottle of Prosecco labelled Extra Dry. It will be a little bit sweet (off-dry)! 😬 This confusion could be a reason people criticise Prosecco as too sweet. Don’t pick ‘Dry’ either (it will be medium)! This finally made sense for me when a Sommelier explained the categories developed over hundreds of years as tastes became gradually drier. No-one redefined the terms because that would have meant upheaval. Instead they introduced ‘Brut’ to mean ‘dry’. And now I find people who avoid Prosecco are surprised when I get them to try a Brut - they enjoy it more. 😀 Follow me for more tips like this.
