@denciotee2: According to the U.S. Geological Survey, about 30.1% of Earth’s freshwater is stored underground as fresh groundwater, equal to roughly 10.53 million km³. Rivers, by contrast, hold only about 0.006% of Earth’s freshwater, or around 2,120 km³ at any given time. That means Earth stores thousands of times more freshwater underground than in all its rivers combined. Most freshwater overall is still locked in glaciers and ice caps, which contain about 68.7% of the planet’s freshwater. So the water we see flowing in rivers is actually only a tiny fraction of Earth’s freshwater supply.
