@jenniferwmerrill: In John 3:14–15, Jesus compares Himself to the bronze serpent Moses lifted up in the wilderness. The Israelites who had been bitten by poisonous snakes didn't have to do anything but look st what God provided and live. In the same way, Jesus would be lifted up on the cross so that whoever believes in Him would have eternal life. Salvation isn't complicated. God provided the way and we receive. It's not about what we do, but about trusting in what Christ has already done. Just as the Israelites looked and lived, we believe and receive eternal life. Faith is simply receiving what God has already provided through His Son.
So glad you shared John 3:14-15 because it is such a key point about the simplicity of the gospel. People usually gloss over the parallel of Moses’ “look” at the bronzed serpent to live and “believe” on Jesus finished work on the cross to live. Great post!

I would like to point out the account with Moses. They were instructed to look intently. Not simply look casually.
