Jukeboxworld500 :
“Ladyfingers” — Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass “Ladyfingers” is one of Herb Alpert’s most beautiful, mellow instrumentals. It appeared on the hugely successful 1965 album Whipped Cream & Other Delights. The tune was written by Toots Thielemans, the Belgian jazz musician best known for harmonica and guitar. Alpert’s recording features his warm trumpet sound over a relaxed, almost dreamy arrangement—quite different from the more energetic Tijuana Brass hits such as “A Taste of Honey.” The Whipped Cream LP became one of the defining easy-listening albums of the 1960s. Interestingly, “Ladyfingers” has enjoyed a major revival in recent years, especially through TikTok and other social media, where younger listeners discovered its nostalgic, romantic sound.
