IMO, Lin Jinqi chooses to step back from court power. The play at the beginning serves as a warning; it criticizes the hidden power struggles within the imperial court, subtly calling out corrupt officials, bad advisers, and high-ranking figures who covertly pull strings behind the scenes while pretending to serve the throne. Lanxiang does not want what happened to her family, the Shens, to happen to the Lins. Also, I may be wrong, but crickets are used as a political analogy, high-ranking officials and the emperor view common people and lower-level ministers as crickets fighting in a bowl for their own entertainment and political gain. Meanwhile, I think the little boy's chant was a realization for Lin Jinqi.

There were so many things missing in this ep for me. Firstly they were on diff paths, two year time skip then suddenly they are in Jinglin then Bam they are hugging and drinking nuptial wine, then she's pregnant. The whole thing felt off like some scenes were cut off
