To understand one's mind fully means to not have a mind for the brain isnt something that can be understood. But this is much deeper, the psychology of the mind is complex and intricate and essentially unpredictable in the specific cases: take physics for example, we see that if we have the correct variables given we then can calculate the final result no matter how complex; however, the psyche isnt so simple that it can be understood, in fact, our behaviour is unpredictable and random. I would say the most logical reason why we cannot understand ourselves is likely because of the fact the mind isnt meant to be delved upon too deeply, if you go too deep then you will definitely suffer some consequences (your emotions will probably change and how your unconscious reacts will too).
