Retesting NEEDS to become the law. My grandma was driving way longer than she should have after having mini strokes. She crashed several times and thank god noone got hurt. Its incredibly dangerous

This is honestly such a pet peeve of mine😭 a friend once got in a crash with an elderly man who didn’t even realise he crashed into someone (on a roundabout btw) despite her beeping and flashing him after the whole ordeal🫠 so so so dangerous

I think 70 is when your licence should be taken away (I'm 65 by the way, so not some youngster). The problem is, unless you live in a town public transport is appalling.

Everyone should be retested regardless of their age but it should be more regular once you hit 60. The amount of people who have health issues who don’t report it is terrifying!

They really do need to introduce a retest at some point after retirement. Ive been in a collision with an elderly driver - I was fine but if someone was in the passenger seat they would have been hurt. It’s so hard for family as people’s mobility and reactions decline they want to be independent but they don’t realise that accepting help with ironically help them stay independent longer. I wish the state would step in because it becomes such a stressful upsetting argument for families :(

I once followed a car that was going like 15mph with hazards on so I flagged them down to see if they were ok or if they needed help (elderly lady on country lanes) her car was perfectly fine she was 'just an anxious driver's 😬😬

My grandad was diagnosed with dementia and still driving around…. We had to literally take the keys out of his house and physically take his car from him ☠️… he never asked about it again after… he FORGOT he had a car… that’s how bad he was…

My friend’s MIL was hit and killed by an older person in a car accident. I do wish more would give up their licenses voluntarily.

As a teenager, walking on the pavement, I got hit and taken through a metal fence by a very old man who mixed up his brakes and his accelerator. He got out, left me in front of the car and wandered off because he was confused. Took nearly ten years to fully recover
