the book is just so much better. i can’t believe they removed the entire plot surrounding Cathy’s daughter and Heathcliff’s son. removing that from the movie literally removes the entire point of the story. in the book, the story doesn’t even really begin until the very end, once Catherine II (cathy’s daughter) is finally free from Heathcliff and bonds with Hareton. all we know is that they have each other in the end and we arent given anything else except that they are going to walk into the future and work on moving past their traumas together. the story isn’t even about Cathy or Heathcliff. it’s about hope for a better tomorrow in spite of all the bad things that have happened to you.
