@silvermotionpictures: 💻🔥 He was given up for adoption as a baby. Decades later, he would build one of the most powerful technology companies in the world. Larry Ellison was born in the Bronx, New York, in 1944 to Florence Spellman, a 19-year-old single mother. When Larry was only about nine months old, he became seriously ill with pneumonia. His mother, struggling without the resources or support to raise him alone, made a painful decision: he would be raised by her aunt and uncle, Lillian and Louis Ellison, in Chicago. That became the family Larry knew. He grew up in a modest apartment on Chicago’s South Side, far removed from the billionaire lifestyle that would come decades later. For years, he did not fully understand the circumstances of his birth. When he eventually learned that the people raising him were not his biological parents, it reportedly had a deep impact on his sense of identity. His relationship with his adoptive father, Louis, was especially difficult. Louis was strict, skeptical, and according to accounts of Ellison’s childhood, often told him he would never amount to much. Lillian was different. She was warm, supportive, and one of the most important people in his life. Then tragedy struck. While Larry was studying at the University of Illinois, Lillian died of cancer. He was devastated. He left college. Later, he enrolled at the University of Chicago, but stayed for only a short time before dropping out again. No degree. No obvious career plan. No great fortune waiting for him. Eventually, Ellison moved to California and began working as a programmer. During the late 1960s and 1970s, he moved through a series of technology jobs, slowly developing expertise in a field that was still unfamiliar to most people: databases. Then came the decision that changed everything. In 1977, Ellison joined Bob Miner and Ed Oates to start a small software company called Software Development Laboratories. That company would eventually become: Oracle Corporation. Oracle helped transform the business world with relational database technology and grew into one of the most influential software companies on the planet. And Ellison became one of the wealthiest entrepreneurs of the modern era. Think about the distance between those two lives. A baby whose young mother felt unable to raise him. A boy growing up in a modest Chicago home. A student who dropped out of college. A young programmer with no guaranteed future. And eventually… the co-founder of a global technology empire. His story is not simply about money. It is about what can happen when rejection, uncertainty, and the feeling of not quite belonging are turned into ambition. Ellison once had people around him who doubted how far he could go. He spent the rest of his life answering that question on an extraordinary scale. 🔥 Your beginning may shape you. But it does not have to define your ending.
