Wicknell Chivayo undoubtedly divided opinion for many reasons, but if you find yourself celebrating his death, it reveals just how broken our society has become. Let us have the discipline to hold one another accountable while still retaining our humanity. Using someone’s death to score political points is not only childish—it is cruel. Families and friends have been plunged into deep mourning, and the very least we can do is show them respect, compassion and basic human decency. In demanding change, let us not become the very people we claim to be fighting against. Our conduct should reflect the values we want to see in a better Zimbabwe.
