I thought July and August was added because of Augustus(August)and Julius(July)? I do not recall where I heard this information. So what you're saying is January and February were the months that were added? 😯

In Greek, sussuro (σούσουρο) means the low annoying noise that happens when many people whisper together. And it has come to mean the turbulence that gossip creates around a person or event. Same root, through Venetian language it came to Greek!

The other encyclopedia, the wiki based one, says, that the current consensus assumes a 12 month roman calendar with the exception of year’s beginning in march, so that the numbers match the month names until at a later stage the year’s beginning was moved to january. even though some sources indeed claimed 10 month year, there are apparently even older sources talking about 12 months. justmy2cents. not intending to “correct” Merriam-Webster. i just looked it up before writing this.

Also, ‘Gast’ is German for guest which - depending on the ghost and your relationship with it - is what a ghost is or can be, a guest in your life.
