Looking back, I feel very lucky that I had a flexible job while I was studying. I was able to squeeze in study time whenever I could—before work, during downtime, on breaks, and on my days off. It wasn’t always easy balancing work, life, and studying, but I kept going little by little.
More than anything, I’m just glad I made the decision to start studying medical coding in the first place. I had no idea where that decision would eventually take me. Now I’ve earned my CCS, I’m continuing to practice, and I’m gaining additional experience through my externship.
I’m still working toward that first opportunity in the field, but when I look back at where I started, I’m grateful I decided to begin. Sometimes the most important part is simply making that first decision to try. ❤️
