Aldi lowered its prices because it got a tariff rebate from the govt. Other stores just kept it.

They also don’t have terrible wages. Idk what the benefits are I’m sure they’re pretty standard. Decent. If i was ever down on my luck it’s not a place i wouldn’t consider if i had too.

I work for one of the largest grocery retailers in the US, reporting to a c-suite exec and based in the corporate office. The shit they spend money on while trying to figure out how to cut prices and increase margins is insane. Last year they spent $1m to put lighting outside the corporate office that allows different colors to be projected onto the building depending on which local sports team was playing. But we’re also in a hiring freeze.

I'll throw hands over Aldi hate. There were times I wouldn't have been able to feed my healthily without Aldi's cheap ass prices. Aldi's is one of the few corporations I will actually defend. Those aren't the guys to take to task.

I make my grocery list ny adding to my cart on the Walmart app then go shopping at Aldi. I buy everything from Aldi that is cheaper than Walmart and delete it from my cart so when I’m don’t I can check out a pickup order for the rest.. fyi 99.9% of the time if I can get it at Aldi it is cheaper!

As a grocery manager, yup. My department is the bulk of our purchases, 48%, but it’s not where the majority of our profit comes from. The biggest margins are the other departments.

I think a lot of people think “egg costs were artificially inflated and I buy them at the grocery store therefore the grocery store is ripping me off” and not “the grocery store also is paying more and so had to raise the prices and it’s the egg producers who raised the prices artificially”
