I am from Kentucky. I have always voted Blue. I’ve been a Democrat my whole life starting with Jimmy Carter . My husband, a republican he could not stand Trump. He said it be the demise of the Republican Party.. and he voted Democrat both times when he ran.

As someone who was running against Ed Whitfield and then James Comer, I will tell you that the DNC and DCCC abandoned us. I felt like I was in the fight alone. In 2016, progressive purity also fought us trying to turn seats blue in KY. There is a lot of issues with Kentucky. Mark Twain said that when he died he wanted to die in KY because everything happens 20 years later.

Can you go back and talk about the dnc pulling out in the 50 state strategy. I’m in Tennessee and I have always felt like the Dems made some sort of bargain to cede the south to the republicans. I would really like to know more about this strategy you mentioned.

Yeah, there are still a few hold out Union dems in eastern Kentucky but all of them are ancient and will say with their chest that they voted Republican for the presidential.

I grew up in a small town in rural eastern Kentucky and as a kid in the late 80’s & 90’s and dems dominated our local elections. You couldn’t win anything running as republican and the last cycle there wasn’t a single democrat candidate for anything in my county.

the fact that they were a swing state until Clinton is wild to me. They are the first called in every presidential election now with like <1% reporting. I'm watching them for senate though and have hope even if the polls show otherwise.
