Over a two-year period, Holmes subjected the victim to continuous verbal abuse, physical assaults, and controlling and coercive behaviour. The court heard he isolated the woman from her family and friends, tracked her daily movements, and constantly monitored her whereabouts. Despite her repeated refusals and pleas for him to stop, Holmes repeatedly forced her into sexual activity and raped her on multiple occasions. Following his arrest by Greater Manchester Police in October 2025, Holmes denied all sexual offences and sought to blame the victim for his actions. He entered guilty pleas to controlling and coercive behaviour and Section 47 assault, but contested the sexual violence charges at trial. A Crown Court jury convicted Holmes of four counts of rape. The judge handed him a custodial sentence of 14 years and three months, alongside statutory protective orders and notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register.
