The offences took place over a three-year period, during which Hunter repeatedly threatened the victim with punishment if anyone was told about the abuse. In 2021, the victim found the courage to report the crimes after attending an educational safeguarding presentation delivered by the NSPCC. Hunter denied the allegations in police interviews and maintained his innocence, forcing the case to trial. Following proceedings at Maidstone Crown Court, a jury convicted Hunter on all 13 counts on the indictment, including rape and sexual assault. On Friday 25 September 2026, the judge sentenced Hunter to 21 years behind bars, followed by an additional year on licence upon release, alongside a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Investigating officer Detective Constable Thabi Hollingsworth commended the survivor's immense bravery in reliving the ordeal to secure justice.
