Dr. Sheila Limontas :
Girl, as a fellow plus-size girlie, I understand that plateau frustration! I’m 49, and one thing I’ve learned is how important it is to work with my doctors to understand what’s happening with my body—including my hormone levels, blood sugar, and digestive issues.
Once I started addressing my health more closely, I began seeing progress. I’ve lost 20 pounds since February and kept it off—hello! 😂 And that happened without an exercise routine during that time. That’s my experience, though; there were several things involved, so I can’t give any one product all the credit.
A friend whose family is from Guam introduced me to banaba leaf tea, which I buy in tea bags on Amazon. I’ve also enjoyed Yogi’s strawberry digestive tea and found it soothing for my stomach. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before trying herbal teas, especially if you take medication for blood sugar.
Another big thing for me was finding a way to drink water more consistently. I like Cirkul because the sugar-free flavors make me actually WANT to drink my water! 😂 I use their bottles and flavor cartridges, and their website is drinkcirkul.com.
I also started paying more attention to foods that agreed with my digestion, including fermented foods like kimchi. Listen, I was eating that cabbage kimchi like it was going out of style—with meat, noodles, or rice. Delicious! 😂
My biggest takeaway is to give yourself some grace and talk with your doctor about what might be contributing to your plateau. I wish we talked more about hormones and the changes we experience as we get older. Understanding my own health helped me stop blaming myself and start figuring out what my body needed. 💜
