@financebronextdoor: Things I refuse to spend money on as a 23yr old who is good with money. These are the wealth killers + a money tip👇🏼 1. Buying something just because it’s on sale. A 30% discount on something I don’t need is still 100% unnecessary spending. TIP: Ask, “Would I buy this at full price?” If not, I probably don’t need it. 2. Gambling with money I should be investing. Sports betting is a disease that’s spreading, the more times you play the more the house wins. TIP: Treat gambling/sports betting like the bubonic plague, just don’t go near it. 3. Upgrading my phone every year. If my current phone works perfectly, I’d rather keep the money invested than pay hundreds for a slightly better camera TIP: Upgrade when your current device actually stops meeting your needs. 4. Paying for subscriptions I barely use. $10 here and $15 there can quietly become hundreds of dollars a year. TIP: Once a month, review every recurring charge and cancel anything you forgot you had. 5. Expensive clothes just for the brand name. I care more about how something fits and lasts than what logo is on it. TIP: Buy fewer, higher-quality basics instead of constantly replacing trendy clothes. 6. Buying things because everyone else has them. Keeping up with other people’s lifestyles is a great way to keep yourself broke. TIP: Compare your spending to your goals, not to someone else’s Instagram. 7. Food delivery when I could easily pick it up. Paying extra fees, tips, and inflated menu prices for something I could get myself doesn’t usually make sense. TIP: If convenience is the only reason, wait 10 minutes and ask yourself if it’s worth the premium. 8. Buying a new car when my current one works. I don’t want my income going toward a depreciating asset just because I want something newer. TIP: Drive your current car longer and invest the difference. 9. Buying groceries without a plan. Walking into the grocery store hungry with no list is an easy way to spend $50 more than planned. TIP: Make a list before you go, and actually stick to it.
