The lack of accessible, reliable public transportation in the greatest country in the world is a huge disservice to our elderly population. My grandma drove way past what was safe because otherwise she would’ve been incredibly isolated.

I’m 63 years old and drive like a 20 year old. I have been saying for YEARS, that we need to start giving elderly (I’ll include myself because I KNOW that I will pass) drivers a written and driving test every year after the age of 65. Just saying! 🤷🏼♀️

There is a serious elderly driving problem in Johnson County. I've watched an old woman drive her car into the fencing in front of the outdoor seating patio of a Panera in Overland Park. That fence saved her from plowing into people sitting inside next to the front windows. Not to mention countless times witnessing elderly drivers failing to maintain their lane, hitting a curb, or straight up rear ending people.

Definitely should be an age restriction or more frequent annual testing. My grandmother caused a wreck that involved her and I my van was damaged beyond belief. I just so happened to be the car she hit, and my babies weren’t in the car. I spun and busted every window every inch of that 95 Windstar was smashed. This happened in Olathe in 2008. My family still let her drive. In 2014 she had 3 wrecks in 1 day, the cops were sick of her that day

An elderly driver rammed into the back of my car in the Panera drive-thru not far from here. She mistook the gas for the brake, panicked, and pressed the gas even harder. It caused over $12k in damage to my car. 😠
