@1morethread: A relative as my nine-year-old daughter to make 75 cupcakes for her party and called herself her first customer when I mentioned paying her she said children shouldn’t expect money for a hobby. Now she says we’re ruining her event.#redditstories #storytime #reddit #reddit_tiktok #minecraftparkour
the relative 10000% called up the local bakeries and realized that was WAAYYYY out of her price range and decided a few baking pans was in fact a fair trade

Don’t call yourself a customer if you aren’t paying

she asked how she'd like her first customer & then tries to stiff the child? that aunt wouldn't be allowed access to my child or home & I'd publicly put her on blast.

she couldn't toss her 100??? they had to fight her for something she would have payed way way way more for? I would have happily agreed to her request.

Well, she said how would you like your first customer? Well, if she’s a customer customers pay pay that child she’s doing a lot of work for you.

People forget that electricity costs money, like when running the oven for hours to bake 7x trays of 12 cupcakes.

You did absolutely everything right. You taught your kid that her time isnt free even if it is a hobby and people shouldnt expect that from her. You handled it flawlessly

Yeah, that relative 100% thought they'd play into what they considered essentially a game of pretend, hence why "customer" was used without any real meaning to it. On a separate note, what a great parent! Nurturing a kid's interests and passions proves you care about what they want and are a solid support if they pursue it.

The relative itself called it first customer... and you are only a customer if you pay..

I am totally bemused why 76 is a better number than 75?!? Baking pans are usually in 12’s or 6’s. Neither 75 nor 76 is divisible by 12 or 6, so it makes absolutely no difference! Unless she is using pans in 4’s, in which case why on earth wouldn’t the chef have suggested larger trays? 😳😳

Sucks when people think they can take advantage of a child's interest. But it ended up being better than just having a customer. Whatever the reason, your daughter ended up with a once in a lifetime experience.
