Well… this isn’t the update I wanted to be making. I cried over this one. For the last couple of weeks, I’ve let myself imagine what life could look like in that house. I pictured where the cats would play, where future fosters would grow up, where I would finally have a place to call home after spending so many years helping everyone else find theirs. But after getting the inspection back and taking time to really process everything, I made the incredibly difficult decision to walk away. I want to say something that’s really important: this isn’t a story about someone doing me wrong. It isn’t about blaming anyone. Mark has been nothing but kind, patient, and generous with me throughout this entire process, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity he gave me. The inspection simply gave me the information I needed to make the most responsible decision for my future. As much as my heart wanted this house… my head knew it wasn’t the right one for me. Walking away hurts. A lot. But I’d rather experience temporary heartbreak than rush into a decision that could affect me for years to come. To everyone who has cheered me on, celebrated every little milestone, prayed for me, and believed this dream right alongside me… thank you. Your love has meant more than you know. I still believe my forever home is out there. Maybe this house wasn’t meant to be the place where hundreds of future foster kittens get their second chance. But somewhere… that house exists. And when I find it, it’ll be worth the wait.
