@graceforpersonalityhires: Using AI as the third party in any relationship, however causal, is a fast track to being a weirdo that no one wants to work with, be friends with or date. I think it’s totally fine and normal that everyone experiments with AI in this way but be very very careful how you rely on it when it comes to interpersonal situations. The people who don’t rely on it to understand what someone is saying to them are going to be the most desirable and sought after in every context.
I often use it to validate that if my communication/ message will be received as intended. Thus minimizing distractions and lost time on explaining “no what I meant was elephants instead of your idea is stupid”.

I assume you’re talking to allistic people but many people don’t even know they’re autistic. And they need an outside eye.

What are you trying to say? you started by saying you shouldn't use chatgpt to decipher your interactions with other. then you started criticizing the question input. is it that people are not supposed to use chatgpt or use the prompts you mentioned? chatgpt is not coming in between two people. it is a tool. you're humanizing it for some reason. and what about all the neurodivergent people who genuinely don't understand human interaction?

I just say what I need to - typos and all. What drives me nuts is when they respond with paragraphs of ai 🤖 AND I use Claude, GPT, westlaw co-counsel… daily but for extremely complex tasks, not communicating internally (or externally). I was just going through a stack of resumes, and I could immediately tell with just the cover letters the ones written with ai. I don’t want to hire somebody that’s gonna need ai to communicate with me.

So true. Every thought you craft into an expression is a rep. When you stop needing to craft you lose the skill. I’m worried about ai for this reason!

I realized this a couple years ago when I was using it as a therapist. it's pretty good at applying the systems and recognizing the patterns in your behavior. however, what's important is that you, the person needs to get better at that. and if you're always using a large language model, you're never sharpening that skill yourself.
it's like using chat GPT to write all of your emails. when are you ever going to get better at tact or delivering a message if the agent is always doing it for you

Therapist here. I agree. Clinically, it's really messing up OCD peeps to the point where it'll hook into compulsions. Folks don't learn anything meaningful from AI in this context and it ultimately increases anxiety.

Sigh, the sad, sad I have that all of upper leadership uses copilot for everything... evaluations, every presentation, fliers straight out of chatgpt. Intellectualism is dying right beside interpersonal relationship skills.

People being grammar police is part of what is causing this imho. Can’t read through a simple typo and now people rely on AI.
