@amycantstopshopping: Turns out asking for dog advice on the internet was a terrible idea😂 If you’re new here—Jeff is my ex husband and Neil is my bf 😊
Trazodone is great for acute anxiety events, but not a great daily anxiety med option! As mentioned: fluoxetine is a great first option and there are other daily anxiety meds if that doesn’t work- although fair warning it takes 4-6 wks to take effect. There are also doggy behaviorists if that is in the budget for you (13 yrs of being a vet tech, not talking out my ass)

Didn't you all have a little white dog a few years back? If you don't have it anymore maybe Stanley misses it? Or maybe Wilson? We lost our dog earlier this month at 10 years old. His buddy took 3 months if grieving and still doesn't act the same.

God ppl need to unclench! The dog’s well being is the most important thing, and it’s clearly your top priority. If you didn’t love him you wouldn’t be jumping through hoops for a solution. I hope the rest of your week is good! 🩷

Maybe Stanley is depressed because Jeff and his dog friend moved out. They don’t understand what’s going on but they do go through separation too

rehoming a pet is never an easy decision. you are trying all other options, keep giving it a go, but also know that in these circumstances - you aren't being malicious. I had to re home my soul kitty because I became SEVERELY allergic to her. I tried for 4 years to make it work, but after getting very ill & needing sinus surgery x2 + her not being happy (she was a lover girl and I couldn't cuddle her anymore 😭) it was the decision I needed to make. she's so happy with her new family and gets cuddles allllllll the time. I miss her, but I loved her enough to let her go

ppl should NOT be weird about rehoming. theres a million and five reasons why someone needs to, and most of the time, its for the better. i had four cats, but one of them was being bullied, and as a disabled person in a one bedroom home, trying to fix the issue was impossible. this cat also had a lot of health issues. she ended up going to a friend that can afford to take care of her better, and she is so much happier now. the other three are also so much happier. i will never regret that decision because choosing to be selfish and keep her here would destory her physical and mental health.

I’m the biggest dog person and worked with them for years and think it’s sometimes the most loving thing you can do for a dog 🤷🏼♀️I adopted my dog from a dog daycare I worked at his old family loved him deeply but didn’t have the time for him that I do. With my life style he’s literally with me 24/7 and never alone and our lives are better together. People can be so selfish I see nothing wrong with it at all.

At the end of the day, *you're* the one who lives with Stanley, and *you* know what's best. It's so easy to judge when you're looking in from the outside, but I understand how hard it is. I hope everything works out for you, hun 🖤

That’s wild to unfriend/unblock. I would maybe try A Snuggle Puppy. It’s a little stuffed animal with a heartbeat. Also try the plug in pheromones to helps with a bunch of things ( whining, barking, pee accidents, aggression, separation anxiety, etc). He may benefit from Fluoxetine, or Gabapentin instead. There’s a trazadone/gaba mix med. You may just need to keep trying multiple things momma !

People will get fricken wild over an animal situation, any animal situation. I’m sorry this has been so stressful, but relieved Jeff’s gonna help you, that’s wonderful news. Don’t worry, we love ya!

Trazodone is great for situational anxiety every now and then. It is a fast acting anti anxiety med. Trazodone combined with gabapentin work great for situational anxiety things. But daily anxiety is better controlled with fluoxetine/prozac but it takes 4-6 weeks to load up in their system. Trazodone is great for in the meantime waiting for the fluoxetine to build up. But I would seek out a vet behaviorist and find out ways to reduce stress in the environment and reduce stress in his brain with drugs. Its a multimodal approach to behavior stuff. Very rarely is it a one stop shop to solve the problem.

I’ve done a lot of rescue work large and small. Finding something that works is important. My current one has a nervous habit of over licking causing bald raw spots. The medication that was prescribed would have caused kidney problems down the road so I’ve tried many different natural remedies. So my suggestion is do a little digging and trying to find the best solution money and health wise. Behavioral wise it’s a lot of patience.
