@iswispod: Imagine losing someone you love and in the middle of grieving, you still have to make sure everyone is fed, organise an entire event and somehow find MILLIONS to bury said loved one 🥲
Speak on it!!! I’m in the middle of planning my grandmas funeral and my God😭😭😭 it’s a 5 day event😭

The pallbearers at my mum's funeral wouldn't move unless we spray them money. It wasn't funny

I told my parents I would not be doing their funeral the Naija way. They will get buried within a week. It’s ridiculous how much money we spend and razzle dazzle we do for funerals.

Also, please clean up your photo gallery on your phone. The last thing you want is your family seeing embarrassing moments 😅

I told my parents that the way we do funerals as a people is ridiculous and they started wailing that so I won’t give them a befitting burial 💀

It’s soooo sad because you’re literally grieving but somehow they don’t even give you space to just be . You’re planning and coordinating literally a party for someone that you will NEVER see again . I hate the funeral culture in Nigeria so much . I hate it

In the north we don’t even call it a celebration of life 😭 just a greeting period. Sure we feed people when they come but sometimes they even bring the food. Burial that day or if at night then the following day.

The one that annoys me is the “sharing of burial aso ebi” to people who never knew or met the dead person. Like your colleague at work giving you aso ebi for their uncle or in-laws burial. I never knew this person so why should I buy/wear aso ebi (literally translated to family clothing).

You allow your parents stay in slums all their life but they die and you fix up the place for “visitors” that are coming for the funeral . Kills me everytime !!!

People just follow trends. If we sat down to think about it, a lot of things we waste money on are not necessary.
