@lucyandthetaingfamily: I miss the old Chinatown. Lively and poppin. Late 90s - early 2000s. Remember when wing hop fung was active with all their ginseng and Chinese trinkets ?! 💔🥹 the future generation missing out. #fyp #foryoupage #chinatown #losangeles #teochew
Yes absolutely miss the old chinatown that had character

I grew up going to chinatown. I moved away and came back to show my kids and felt so sad to see it so deteriorated. I wish there were efforts to preserve and restore it.

I'm so grateful I experienced 80's/90s L.A. Chinatown. My dad worked long hours all week to take us every weekend to our family's favorite spots to eat. We're Mexican, and as a child going to Chinatown and seeing all the things there was like being transported to a whole other world. Through the eyes of a child it was just magical. He's passed on now but some of the best fam memories with my dad happened there. 😔

Ugh 5 t shirts for $10, souvenirs/toys, gift shops, restaurants, ninja stars, nunchucks, swords, bootleg vhs and that pet shop on the corner.

It’s because the vendors would still be selling 15 year old inventory from the old country. They didn’t adapt and the youth did not take over the business. I always say if the youth doesn’t take over the family restaurant business, they will close and we will be stuck with chicken nuggets and tenders as our only food options.

The toy stand in between Wing Hop Fung had so many things to look at. I almost lost my Mom as she walked away carrying bags and bags of stuff! lol core memory.

Sad to see. New chinatown is Mionterey Park/Alhambra/Arcadia area. I remember when Ocean was called Miriwa and Chinese Friends was the little classic spot or the Sam Woo on the 2nd floor.

My grandpa loved Chinatown. Many trips growing up to meet the family to eat there, then shop the stores.
