Honestly I think most of the stuff I see at farmer's markets is just re-labeled shit from Costco

Man there's like California farmers markets. And then there's whatever the hell the other 49 states are stuck with.

No, the biggest issue is how do I know you actually grow these things instead of getting them from a wholesaler?

I wish there was a good online way to access local farm stands that included a current and reliable list of available products like CSAs do, plus hours they are open. It’s really hard to travel to a stand and have no product. I want to support and agree most farmers markets fall short.

Vermont thrives because of its farmers markets. They are places where people come together, connect with one another, and celebrate local food and community. I was born and raised here, and I grew up with farmers markets and co-op food long before they became popular. That sense of local connection is part of who we are and it is what we love.

It's not what it used to be. Like Flea markets. Corporations, ai, and scammers have taken over.

Love farmers markets, grew up with them in my rural area. You get to know the growers, farmers but with the "new" wave of people who have moved here its changed the respect had for these markets. The reason for the change- many of them confessed to using human feces to grow their stuff. I still buy directly from farmers. People who think they know tend to ruin for others.

You’re making me realize our farmers market is pretty damn good. We have several farms there plus a dairy. And then we have liquor lol! It’s very well attended so there may be some loyalty on both sides. We appreciate them that’s for sure!

I love the farmer's market! it takes two of us, ladies, one whole day, to pick and prep and pack for the market. And then we go, whatever's left over.We trade for other stuff, or we take it to the auction on tuesday.I love my regulars.I love the people at the market. And no one would dare to argue with me about the f****** price. And if they do, they're usually very old, and I ask them what they want to pay.And I let them pay, but i'm not selling meat and high cost input products like you produce.I love your farm.I love your content.I'm so grateful for what you put out there.

I don't like them in the sense that they are turning into a place to sell crafts rather than produce. I went to one that actually all farmers selling fruits, veggies, meat and homemade stuff like jam, honey. Then went to another that was just like a flea market lol

Madison, wi has some of the best farmers markets where you do get to meet the farmers and it has a great community feel. Would recommend the big farmers market around the capital if you ever end up in Madison. Be prepared for it to be packed!!

I'm so thankful my farmers market only allows items either made or grown by you, using minimums 60% locally sourced ingredients. Is expensive AF tho.

I worked for a farm that went to a famers market and worked to one that never went to one. The better option is clear. Run a website, and run a CSA. You can still have a communal aspect at a CSA pickup

I’m in Maine, and absolutely love the farmers market. I find the prices to be cheaper or comparable to the local co-op. There’s also a significant discount for people on snap benefits. Anytime we can decentralize food production and put money in the hands of our neighbors, it’s a win.

Do what works for you. If the internet is a better more helpful tool you can use to sell your goods then by all means use it. Road travel has become way too expensive, to end up at maybe good enough, on a good day, market stand opportunity.

What farmer’s markets are you going to. Im in California and I’ve never heard people trying to bargain on prices and the produce is fantastic.

There's people that hate farmers markets? I thought everyone knew it was going to be more expensive lol so weird, I can understand why as a seller people would hate it though

I like farmers markets and live in a rural area. there are two old guys that set up plain tables with produce thats affordable. the other farmers table is set up for aesthetics and sells $5/lb tomatoes. I go for tge produce not for TT videos

Wow, I think maybe you’re just in the wrong state. The county I live on the coast of California we have a farmers market every day except Sunday and some days we have two or three. Having been a vendor myself until recently retiring for 20 years. I can tell you this is not our experience here with our customers. Our customers show up and show out for us. They all understand exactly how hard we work and in 20 years, I’ve had very very few arguments about price and it’s almost always tourists. I’m sorry it’s not the same where you are. that sounds horrific.

I still kind of enjoy the idea of a farmers market but the prices compared to what I actually may earn in a pay period may not be massively worth it. I like to walk through a few but I may not actually buy much of anything.

I love going to the farmers market for a few weekends at the start of summer but I find better prices at my closest farm that I do csa thru. the same farm sells at the markets for way more than their csa farm stand.
