@zainazaytoona: this may or may not ruffle some feathers but who says that in Islam you only have to wear a black loose piece of clothing to be Muslim? let's go back to embracing cultural differences even in Islam. wahhabism tries to eliminate any cultural differences between Islam by means of erasing cultural costumes, jewlery, music, art, and so much more to swap for 1 strict rigid form of Islam. #ArabTikTok #arabic #feminism #culture
i love black abaya, wear it almost everyday but get an ick when some muslim men say that black abaya is the "right" outfit for muslim women and colored abaya are tabarruj 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄. Pisses me off not to mention trying to police our hijab style.

my jordanian grandmothers had face tattoos and didn’t wear the hijab to them they didnt know it was haram or didn’t think what they did was haram. islam wasn’t as influenced like it is today i find that so interesting

The four imam madhabs ruled music haram with the exception of duff on weddings played by women so its not just 'Wahabism' 😂

Thank you for speaking on this.
This is a problem that I see a lot particularly in the African continent in countries that Muslim majority.
So many parts of an East and West African culture are erased because they are not considered "Islamic", whatever that means.

israel indirectly benefits from wahabbism because they both have a similar end goal in which both want to see erasure of arab culture until it’s nonexistent

Happens in Pakistan too. We are one of the four oldest river valleys civilizations and yet are forced to erase that

tattoos and musical instrument are haram. culture is a beauty and our differences are a mercy for us to know each other...but culture is Dunya. do not cling to it so tightly that your Iman suffers.

I think a lot of it is a careful balance between culture and Islam. It’s very interesting to observe, and I could probably right a thesis on it. 😅 Culture IS important … but not when it goes against Islamic law. I think many stay pretty Orthodox out of caution. I’m admittedly one of them in certain aspects.

This is why Sufism really speaks to me as someone who has struggled with my faith it’s one of the only sects that values an actual spiritual connection to Allah without being a miserable hater

I agree such a beautiful and rich culture. We must find ways to preserve and understand it, teach it to future generations.

that is so well said! before islam there were many other paganistic religions all over the region that suddenly became haram. in our case, many Turkic religious practices, traditions became haram, so they were forbidden then forgotten. its really sad that so many unique heritages have been erased like that

Omg yess, I have been saying that they are under this impression that because this world is temporary, they shouldn’t focus on it, when in reality they will also be judged based on what they contributed to Allahs earth and other creations
