@maksimbalobnov: bizarre world of david lynch 🙏🏻 David Lynch famously left his right shoelace untied at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival as a quirky good luck charm. During a BBC interview on the festival docks, legendary film critic Barry Norman noticed the loose lace and politely pointed it out. Lynch refused to tie it, explaining that the lace had accidentally come undone two months prior on an incredibly successful day. He vowed to keep it that way for the entire festival, jokingly admitting that he had already tripped and fallen twice because of it, but feared breaking the spell more than the physical hazard. The eccentric ritual paid off spectacularly for the director. His dark, romantic thriller Wild at Heart, starring Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern, was making its big premiere at the festival that year. By the end of the event, the film won the festival's highest honor, the prestigious Palme d'Or. Lynch's untied shoelace became a legendary piece of Cannes lore, perfectly cementing his reputation as one of cinema's most wonderfully unconventional and superstitious minds. #davidlynch #eraserhead #twinpeaks #mulhollanddrive #bluevelvet
