I felt this. I have experienced this. The constant daily criticism is something nobody will understand unless you are in a relationship like this. And yes this is abuse. And it's EXHAUSTING. Thank you for sharing all of these wonderful videos

Yeah. Saying please and thank you for every little thing. Like excuse me not excuse me please when he would intentionally put his body in my path. Then when he would move a thank you was required

Oh girl, I saw your Taylor video and scrolled here—this is the first piece of your content I've seen. I've been there. I'm embarrassed that I'm now trapped at my parents' house, and it's bringing so much up. I had years of peace. Disability sucks. I took care of my grandmother, and then my uncle evicted me when she died because he was being shady with the estate. Mind you, I was paying my way and watching her house next door. Now I'm here, and things like a stray kitten I cared for having an adoption weaponized and ruined—in an area where they rarely get homes—feel so stupid. But I am trying to get through it because this is who I was for so long, and I worked through so much of it. I used to do case managing and document everything so I can't be gaslit but it is frustrating that even if I had everything 24/7 most wouldn't believe me here. Even if, like you with your friends, I still have to refresh the knowledge that it isn't a big deal. I'm sorry. Thank you for your page.

Was there a moment where it clicked for you that it was abuse? I mean, when did it go from “all relationships have challenges” to “I don’t deserve this kind of treatment”?

sometimes I get so convinced I am the abuser... and then remember that I'm the one who was lied to repeatedly even when I had proof. I was the one who found out even after 3 rounds of couples counseling that they'd been stealing and cheating.. but cause I'm the one controlling and upset I feel like I'm the bad guy.. or am I just reacting normally to abuse and chronic lying...

Things started to get better for me once I started to act just like him.. I knew exactly how he would react to me just being human so I mirrored his remarks and critiques and it eventually completely stopped

I'm only a few months out of a relationship like this, and I'm finding that I still have bad anxiety from making mistakes like typos, texts, emails... to where I re-read things over and over before sending. Does anyone have any advice maybe..?

this is the moment that I realized abuse in a large age gap relationship I had in my 20s. I knew it was a predatory relationship but he used to spell check and grammar check my messages to him and wouldn't read it. I never thought of that as abuse. he never let me live that down

This one time: correcting my use of the word potty to toilet. I was speaking about potty training. Anyways .. yes if someone is constantly correcting it is very much not ok.

Once I emailed the word your instead of you’re and my ex emailed back and questioned my education and intelligence. Went on and on about my lack of grammar skills. I still can’t send a text without proper punctuation or spelling.

I hate that. even if those mistakes bug you, and you NEED you fix it, there's better ways. I always have the urge to correct your/you're. so if my boyfriend says "your cute" I'll say "you're cute." I correct it so I'm happy, every time I mention I do it he says he doesn't even notice, just takes it as me complementing him. I hate evil lil losers who use that urge to Grammer correct as a reason to be evil

I fully understand / have experience with an ex taking every opportunity to belittle my intelligence. I didn’t realise it at the time, but I realise now it was only one of the ways he compensated for his insecurities around me.

That’s exactly how my ex was. He would always say: “You’re a doctor and that’s what you…” it was everything: “what u say, what u type, what u do, what u eat…”And his favorite: “And u don’t have any emotional intelligence!!”. Years later I still edit myself constantly. It’s so sad. 😭
