also big reminder for ppl out there that haven’t been through dv, the signs don’t just start at hitting. if he can yell, scream, throw things, hit stuff around you, while watching how scared you are? he will hit you one day. and he will come crying apologizing to see if he will be let back in. letting them back in shows you will tolerate it because you love them. then will start the hitting, grabbing, pushing, etc whenever you don’t follow their rules. then will come the choking, restraining, and spitting. next is he will kill you.

I was 17 years old when the abuse started the beatings r*pe me over and over again choking so I had to kick him and fight back slapping me in arguments my college teachers gave him the keys to the girls changing room just in case I had a sezuire ( I have epilepsy) he took that opportunity to assault me but I slapped him and escaped but he threatened me to stay with him or he’d hurt my parents he almost killed me at 19 when I left him when I was begging for my life

my ex gave me 20 bruises directly where no one would see them he broke all my lights was sitting in the dark in blood because he shattered all the lightbulbs by hand at 2am after I broke up with him I still get nightmares but I know I can handle myself now

He never hit me but he screamed in my face, he called me names, he tried to controlled me, he tried to make me feel bad about myself, he begged me to do stuff with him after I said no, he started to get to playful with me, until he would hit me “playfully” after I said it hurt. Year 2020. He beat me. Raped me. Tortured me. Tormented me. And held me hostage for two months. the 4 yrs before that he was so abused. Threatened my life if I left. And then when I attempted to leave, that’s when he held me hostage and locked me ina room where I couldn’t escape; his mom his dad his brothers heard my screams everyday and they did nothing . Those two months of terrible abuse felt like decades like hell.. I will never forget ; the system the judge chose his side…. He’s still walking free. But I’m so grateful to be alive, sober and content now.

It’s not only men woman can hurt you and kill you too coming from a DV survivor of a same sex marriage if I had left she would have 1000% killed me it started with yelling and isolating me from job, friends, family. And progressed to throwing stuff and threats to she would punch me in the head and chest she concussed me multiple times but after she was done she would comfort me so it made it so hard to leave it took me 10 years to leave and it took me standing my ground and fighting back to get away now I’ve been away from her for almost 3 1/2 years don’t be like me leave when you see the first signs in any relationship you have because THEY WILL KILL YOU!!!!
