This award isn't chosen after the season is completed. It's voted on, after each game for on-field performance. The incident at the Pullman is separate to this award. They banned him from the event.

Not disagreeing with your thoughts and opinions by any stretch, but respectfully requesting a little bit of clarity around where you said “let’s say Isaac Heeney is innocent…” you followed that up by mentioning that Australia is currently experiencing an epidemic of violence against women, and you’re correct in saying so, which is very sad indeed. My question to you is, if in this case Isaac Heeney is innocent as you said, how is that next point around the epidemic of cases of violence (complete lack of a better word) relevant considering for all intents and purposes has not committed the crime he was accused of, pretty hard to punish someone who, if indeed found innocent, hasn’t contributed to the epidemic you said he should be made an example of?? As I said, I’m just respectfully asking for a bit of clarity!! I guess my view is that accusations shouldn’t be enough to penalise someone, but I suspect (and hope) that if he is found guilty, the Best and fairest would be stripped from him!!

It’s called best and fairest on the AFL field, he didn’t win some humanitarian award or the noble peace award he won the Bob Skelton award which means best player on the field over a year for the swans which he was so don’t know what you wanted the guy that come second get the award, which will have an Asterisks against it and the guy that wins it knows he come 2nd

Even if you apply the most generous lens to this situation and separate the sexual assault from the situation (I don’t agree with this but just for the idiots who will argue this), how can a player who was suspended for his terrible behaviour be awarded the BEST AND FAIREST medal. the Sydney swans are in a dire situation if their very very very BEST AND FAIREST player is out drinking and doing drugs and cheating on his fiancé during a critical part of the season. The fact that these players were even eligible to win this medal negates any statement that the club has put out saying that they actually are taking this seriously. It was all performative.

Honestly, let him have it. He's their best and most valuable player? Sure give him the award then. Let's reframe it. It doesn't matter how good you are at football. It doesn't matter if you are the best player on the team. You won an award? Congratulations. But we are NOT impressed. Let them be awarded for their achievements as they deserve, knowing that it is separate from who they are as a person and how they treat others. We need to send the message that we care FAR more about the latter, so those achievements are now worthless. You can have your pedestal, but you won't be worshipped for it.

I think you’d be surprised what the swans will do after the investigation is done. They are a great club and they will strip him of his award and player ship at that club. The swans are amazing, please don’t start stories on hypotheticals
