I wonder how much this cost her in court, lawyer fees and taking it to appeal.

I don’t understand how the cases you show always end up with small amount percentages. My partner is in dispute with her ex. 2x3yr relationships broke up for 2yrs (the ex got engaged to someone else in that time). My partner owned her home 12yrs before the ex came along. She’s never contributed regularly to the household. She’s claimed 60% originally, she is now claiming 45% and this is having to go to court where my partner is being told she is going to end up paying out a huge % to the ex. She will have to sell her house to do this and is fighting leukaemia so her future income is in jeopardy. It all feels so wrong that her ex can be getting so much. I don’t understand how this works

so he built his wealth over a life time and she gets quarter of it for a 4 year relationship? Doesn't seem right

do these men not realise that if they had the kids full time they wouldn't be able to work as much and make all that money. we are out here looking after these kids and some of us cant get the jobs we want because we have to care for our kids.

Just because he had more money, why should she get more than normal child support? (Plus free accommodation) It shouldn’t make any difference

I wonder what the legal bill would of been for each party. if it ended up all the way to a judge hearing + appeal, it would have to be atleast $250,000?

The first judgement highlights how little value is placed on the unpaid labour women continuously provide in both relationships and parenting 🙄

The first judge and the man’s barrister are friends…… that’s why the man’s barrister was able to convince the first judge of the 10.5%

so, the way a non lawyer might look at it... she has fought her way out of a likely inheritance in the event of his death and pays court and legal costs in exchange for chump change calculated by the only tool available to the judge. seems like a lose/lose to me

I understand that she raised the kids and did everything. I understand that. But she was getting child support as well, isn't that kind of the same thing as getting a payout? Or is that normally on top of when? Because in our friend's relationship, the mother does nothing, doesn't pay any child support at all, and the dad has to pay for everything in kids live with him, yet she got 70%.

So if they never have the almost 4 year de facto relationship, she would have no claim? Is that how it works? If so, doesn’t child support cover this?
