My friend’s son woke up on his honor walk- he sat up and the people lining the halls saw him as did the transporter. They had never done a reverse honor walk

The hospital thought they were slick. "She tried to take her own life anyway, just tell her family a couple lies & give her organs to somebody else." That's the definition of unethical.

I hate that people are stopping their donor status over this bc it is not at all common but the people who desperately need donor organs are piling up.

It’s unfortunate they have turned it into a $$$ scam. Because of this, I removed myself from the donation list and I have told my family under no circumstance am I donate an organ.

my mother suddenly unexpectedly passed away. she had accidentally checked she was an organ donor (she was not and never expressed any interest or we would have honored her wishes) the organ harvest doctors hounded us to donate. we repeatedly refused for hours. I had to threaten legal action and informed them wed let the funeral home know we didnt allow any autopsy and if anything was missing to let us know immediately so we would sue the hospital (so grateful for the funeral director, an absolute angel). still wonder if they let her pass away alone without any family because she accidentally checking yes to organ donor (family was waiting in the lobby to go up and was given a hard time)

When we donated my spouses organs, the team told us to remove it from our license so if it ever happened, the next of kin can pick and choose what would be allowed with multiple witnesses and signatures on contracts.

We give Ativan to patients while they pass to make their passing more comfortable. I.e., you can have a seizure whenever you pass so it’s more of a preventative measure.

It’s actually quite common that someone with brain damage and not brain death will have reactive VS and reflexes. But they should have done so much more testing regardless and definitely have more than a tiny fine for that error
