I'm thinking I would just flush it with the regular water supply just leave the red one in the bucket and pull the blue off and turn the valve off and turn the main valve back on.

And if your hot water heater doesn’t have all those attachments it’s because it doesn’t need to be flushed. It flushes water through it as it’s used all the time.
