The Manchus originated from the Tungusic regions of Eastern Siberia. Around the early 15th century, they moved into what is now Northeast China. In 1644, after the Ming capital of Beijing was captured by rebel forces, they took advantage of the chaos to collude with Ming generals guarding the Great Wall and invaded China. Manchu rule brought immense disaster to the country, and today, the vast majority of Chinese people harbor a strong aversion toward the Manchus.
