@wanderingswhimsy: Levy didn’t disappear all at once. It was cut apart. When I-40 came through North Little Rock, the new interstate promised speed, progress, and a faster way across Arkansas. But for old downtown Levy, progress came with a price. Sometimes highways don’t just take you somewhere. Sometimes they erase what was already there. #LevyArkansas #NorthLittleRock #ArkansasHistory #LostArkansas #ForgottenPlaces
my great grandmother house was the first house built in levy and was yrs ago moved to downtown little rock as a historic home

I don’t remember it before I-40. We moved here in the early 70’s. I do remember a place called “The Spot” just before you went under I-40. My dad I went there. It was great. It’s been gone for a while now. Miss my dad and that place.

Grew up a block west of the old wooden bridge off 14th St. Loved the pepperoni pizza from Pizza Planet on Saturdays after some Pee Wee football or skating at Rink II. Still remember when Rink II put up the Big Screen to watch some MTV. As a teen spent many Fri & Sat nights cruising Camp. Sat & Sun afternoons were for cruising Burns Park. My 1st time eating Taco Bell was across from the old Wal-Mart before it moved down the road a bit to where Edwards is located now. I still drive thru it almost daily to & from LR & every time a flood of memories come rushing back. If I could only go back…

I grew up there in the 70s. It was such a fun place to be. I miss the old Levy. My Dad had service station at the foot of the Levy Exit. Its a bumper to bumper place now and the other one is the new Mexican place Where US Pizza and Pizza Planet were

The old Baptist Memorial hospital on the hill was so quaint and charming. I used to love the view from up there.
